Marks and Spencer have recalled a batch of chicken and vegetable soup, over fears it may have been contaminated with chemicals.
The move comes after a taint in the product caused by a possible chemical contamination, was discovered.
M&S are advising anyone who has purchased the product, with item number: 00711135 and a use by date of March 30, to return it to store immediately.
The Food Standards agency issued the following advise to customers, they said: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
M&S said: “The safety of our food is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer and we take all issues regarding the production of our food extremely seriously.
“As a precaution, Marks & Spencer has removed Chicken & Vegetable Soup 600g from sale whilst we conduct investigations with our supplier.
“Product with the date code Use by 30/03/17 is the only batch affected.
“Customers should not consume the affected date code of this product and any customers in possession of this product can return it to their nearest store where a full refund will be given.”
