All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junction 5 Hook, Hampshire: resurfacing

Works to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the M3 near Hook takes place this this week. The northbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 9 May. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

M3 junction 13 Chandlers Ford, Hampshire: road markings

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining road markings takes place this week. The northbound exit slip road at junction 13 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 10 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 12 and return.

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: bridge reconstruction and street lighting

Work to improve journeys by improving the street lighting and refurbishing the bridge that carries the link roads over the M4 continues this week. The slip from the M4 westbound carriageway to the A329(M) Reading-bound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Sunday 12 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11 and return.

In addition, the slip road from the A329(M) Reading-bound carriageway to the M4 eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 16 May (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Winnersh Triangle and return.

M4 junction 10 Wokingham to 11 Reading, Berkshire: bridge maintenance

Work to improve journeys by replacing the waterproofing material in the bridge which carries the M4 over the River Loddon continues this week. The M4 westbound carriageway between junctions 10 to 11 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 8 May for three nights.

In addition, the eastbound carriageway between junctions 11 and 10 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 11 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A329(M) and Lower Earley Way.

M4 junctions 12 Theale to 13 Chieveley, West Berkshire: bridge refurbishment

Work to improve journeys by refurbishing a series of bridges that carry the M4 over local roads continues this week. 24 hour narrow lane, 50mph speed limit and overnight lane closures will be in place on the east and westbound carriageways until July.

In addition, the eastbound exit slip road at junction 13 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 11 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M4.

M4 junction 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: road markings

Works to improve safety by renewing the road markings at the junction takes place this week. The eastbound entry and exit slip roads at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 8 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

M27 junctions 5 Eastleigh to 3 Southampton, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the eastbound carriageway finishes this week. The M27 eastbound carriageway from junction 2 to junction 5 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 11 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A36, A3090 to Romsey, A27 through North Baddesley and Chilworth, Bassett Green Road and Stoneham Way.

M27 junction 7 Hedge End, Hampshire: street lighting

Works to ensure road user safety by improving the street lighting at junction 7 takes place this week. The eastbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 9 May for three nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

M27 junction 12 Portsmouth, Hampshire: bridge refurbishment and barrier replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing old sections of the safety barrier and by refurbishing a bridge at the junction 12 Paulsgrove Interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways of the M27 and A27 between Farlington and Port Solent until Monday 21 May.

A27 Havant, Hampshire: bridge joints

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint replacement at the Langstone Interchange continues this week. The A27 westbound carriageway will be closed between the slip roads only overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 14 May (Monday to Friday only). Traffic will be diverted down and across the junction.

A27 Farlington, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the entry slip road at the Eastern Road junction takes place this week. The entry slip road at the A2030 Eastern Road junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 9 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A27.

A3 Burpham, Surrey: signage

Works to improve journeys by replacing signs along the A3 takes place this week. The northbound entry slip road at the Burpham junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 8 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the adjacent junction.

A3 Send, Surrey: signage

Works to improve journeys by replacing signs along the A3 takes place this week. The northbound exit slip road at Send will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 10 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the adjacent junction.

A3 Petersfield, Hampshire: street lighting

Works to improve safety with street lighting takes place this week. The southbound A272 exit and entry slip will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 9 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3.

A31 St Leonards, Dorset: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A31 eastbound carriageway continues this week. The A31 eastbound carriageway will be closed from the Woolsbridge/Brocks Pine roundabout to the Ashley Heath roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 10 May for two nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Ferndown and West Parley.

A34 Weston-on-the-Green to Kidlington, Oxfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A34 southbound carriageway in Oxfordshire continues this week. The A34 southbound carriageway will be closed from junction 9 of the M40 to the A44 Peartree Interchange overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from until Thursday 24 May (Monday to Friday only).

During the closures clearly signed diversions will be in place as follows:

Non-motorway traffic: via the A44, A4095 through Enslow and Kirtlington, towards Bicester Motorway permitted traffic: A44 then A40 to junction 8a, then north on the M40 to junction 9

A34 Hinksey Hill, Oxfordshire: street lighting

Works to improve journeys by maintaining the street lighting alongside the A34 takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road at the Hinksey Hill Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 8 May. The northbound exit slip at the same junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 10 May. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

In addition, the southbound entry slip road at the Hinksey Hill Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 9 May. The northbound entry slip will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 11 May. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

A34 Speen, West Berkshire: street lighting

Works to improve journeys by maintaining the street lighting alongside the A34 takes place this week. The southbound entry and exit slip roads at the A4 Speen junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 10 May.

In addition, the northbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 11 May. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

A303 Bullington to Micheldever, Hampshire: drainage

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage system between the M3 and the A303 continues this week. The A303 eastbound carriageway will be closed from the A34 (Bullington Cross) to junction 8 of the M3 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 8 May for four nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A34 and A30 (non-motorway vehicles) and via the A34 and M3 (motorway vehicles).

A404(M) junction 9b Maidenhead, Berkshire: bridge repairs and road markings

Work to improve safety by renewing road markings and carrying out repairs to the barrier which carries the A404(M) over Cannon Lane continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph will be in place on the northbound and southbound carriageways near junction 9b until July.

In addition, the A404(M) southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 8 and Thursday 10 May. The A404(M) northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 9 May.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via Maidenhead.

A404 Marlow, Buckinghamshire: drainage

Works to improve road user safety by maintaining the drainage system along the A404 takes place this week. The A404 northbound carriageway will be closed from Marlow to the M40 (Handy Cross) overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 11 May. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via Wycombe Road.

A308(M) Maidenhead, Berkshire: resurfacing

Works to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A308(M) takes place this week. The A308(M) will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 10 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A404(M) to junction 9b, east along Bath Road to Maidenhead centre, then south along Braywick Road.

Safety at roadworks

Highways England is working with the industry and road users to reduce the risks of working on the roads. For the safety of road workers and all road users, when you are approaching roadworks:

Keep within the speed limit – it is there for your safety.

Get into the correct lane in good time – don’t keep switching.

Concentrate on the road ahead, not the roadworks.

Be alert for works’ traffic leaving or entering roadworks.

Keep a safe distance – there could be queues in front.

Observe all signs – they are there to help you.

And be alert for road workers, the roads are their workplace.
