M3 junctions 5 Hook to 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the M3 near Mapledurwell continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the M3 southbound overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 21 March.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: bridge strengthening

Work to maintain journeys by repairing the bridge supports continues this week. Narrow lanes will be in place 24/7 on the roundabout beneath the M3.

M3 junctions 8 Basingstoke to 9 Winchester, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections on the M3 north and southbound starts this week. The M3 southbound will be closed from junctions 7 to 9 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 5 March for 13 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A33.

In addition, the M3 northbound carriageway from junctions 9 to 8 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 7 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A34 and A303.

M3 junctions 11 Winchester to 13 Eastleigh, Hampshire: drainage

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage system along the M3 starts this week. Lane closures will be in place on the M3 northbound overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 5 March for three weeks (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: bridge reconstruction and street lighting

Work to improve journeys by upgrading the street lighting around junction 10 and refurbishing the bridge that carries the link roads over the M4 continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place on the slip roads and a 50mph speed limit is in place on the M4 carriageway until March.

In addition, the following slip road closures will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am, with clearly signed diversions in place via adjacent junctions:

Monday 5 March – closure of the M4 eastbound entry slip road from the A329(M) Reading-bound carriageway

Tuesday 6 March for two nights – closure of the M4 westbound entry slip road from the A329(M) Wokingham-bound;

Thursday 8 March for two nights – closure of the links from the M4 to the A329(M) Wokingham-bound;

Friday 9 March – closure of the M4 westbound exit slip to the A328(M) Reading-bound carriageway, and;

Saturday 10 March – closure of the M4 eastbound exit slip to the A328(M) Wokingham-bound.

M4 junction 10 Wokingham to 11 Reading, Berkshire: bridge maintenance

Work to improve journeys by replacing the waterproofing material in the bridge which carries the M4 over the River Loddon continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place on the east and westbound M4.

In addition, the M4 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 7 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Lower Earley Way.

M4 junctions 12 Theale to 13 Chieveley, West Berkshire: bridge refurbishment

Work to improve journeys by refurbishing a series of bridges that carry the M4 over local roads continues this week. 24 hour narrow lane, 50mph speed limit and overnight lane closures will be in place on the east and westbound carriageways until July.

In addition the M4 eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am on Monday 5 March, and the M4 westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 7 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4 during both closures.

M4 junction 15 Swindon, Wiltshire: surveys

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys at the junction take place this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 5 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 16 and return.

M27 junctions 3 to 4 Southampton, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the east and westbound M27 continues this week. The M27 westbound will be closed from junctions 5 (Eastleigh) to 3 (Southampton) overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 5 March for three weeks. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Stoneham Way, the A27 and A3057.

M27 junction 10 Wickham, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the street lighting at the junction takes place this week. The westbound exit slip road and eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 March. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions and the A27.

M27 junction 11 Fareham, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the M27 eastbound near junction 11 continues this week. The M27 eastbound will be closed between the slip roads overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 5 March for three nights. Traffic will be diverted up and across the junction.

In addition, the eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 8 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next junction and return.

M27 junction 12 Portsmouth, Hampshire: bridge refurbishment and barrier replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing old sections of the safety barrier and by refurbishing a bridge at the junction 12 Paulsgrove Interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways of the M27 and A27 between Farlington and Port Solent until April.

The A27/M27 westbound will be closed from the A2030 Eastern Road junction to M27 junction 12 overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Friday 16 March (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Eastern Road (A2030), Havant Road, Southampton Road and the M27 junction 12 link.

M271 Southampton, Hampshire: drainage

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage system along the M271 starts this week. The southbound entry slip road at junction 1 (Lordshill) will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 5 March for four nights.

In addition, the northbound exit slip road at junction 1 (Lordshill) will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 9 March for four nights (Monday to Friday only). During all closures a clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M27 roundabout and return.

A3 Weston, Hampshire: signage

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining the signage at the Weston junction finishes this week. The northbound exit slip road at the Weston junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next junction and return.

A3 Petersfield, Hampshire: signage

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining the signage finishes this week. The northbound exit and entry slip roads at the Sheet link junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 March. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the next junctions and return.

A3 Guildford, Surrey: drainage and traffic signals

Work to improve journeys by upgrading the traffic signals at the Dennis Interchange and to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage system along the A3 starts this week. The southbound entry slip road at the Dennis Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 5 March for up-to six weeks (Monday to Friday only).

In addition, lane closures will be in place on the north and southbound carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 5 March for four weeks (Monday to Friday only).

A27 Havant, Hampshire: road markings

Work to improve journeys by renewing road markings along the A27 takes place this week. The eastbound exit slip road at the A3023 Langstone junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 9 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Warblington junction.

The eastbound entry slip road at the Bedhampton junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Saturday 10 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2030 Eastern Road junction.

The A27 westbound carriageway between the A3023 Langstone and Bedhampton junctions will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Sunday 11 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Park Road North, New Road, Bedhampton Road and Bedhampton Hill.

A31 Ferndown, Dorset: signage

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining signage between Canford Bottom and Ferndown takes place this week. The A31 westbound carriageway from the Ameysford Roundabout to Canford Bottom will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 8 March.

A31 Sturminster Marshall, Dorset: signage and street lighting

Work to improve journeys for road users by maintaining the street lighting and signage at the Roundhouse Roundabout takes place this week. Temporary traffic lights will be in place at the A350 junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 5 March for five nights.

A3(M) junctions 2 to 1 Horndean, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the northbound carriageway continues this week. The A3(M) northbound carriageway will be closed from junctions 2 to 1 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 16 March (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2149 Dell Piece West, the A3 Portsmouth Road and London Road.

A34 Newbury, West Berkshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the northbound A34 between Donnington and Chieveley continues this week. The A339 northbound from the Vodafone roundabout to the M4 and the A34 northbound exit to the M4 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 6 March.

Two clearly signed diversion routes will be in place:

Non-motorway vehicles – from Newbury, north on the B4009 towards Hermitage, north-west along Priors Court Road towards Chieveley, then either left at Graces Lane for the service area/hotels and M4, or continue through Chieveley/Beedon for the A34 northbound, while;

Motorway permitted vehicles – from Newbury, travel west along the A4 Bath Road towards Hungerford, turn right onto the A338 towards Wantage, joining the M4 at junction 14.

The Moto (Chieveley) service area and hotels will still be open during these closures – customers should follow the B4009 diversion then enter the service area from the southbound link off the M4 roundabout.

In addition, the A34 northbound carriageway from the M4 roundabout (Chieveley) to Beedon will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 7 March for five nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Chieveley/Worlds End/Beedon for standard vehicles, and via the M4, A404(M) and M40 for heavy goods vehicles.

A34 Kidlington (Oxford), Oxfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A34 north and southbound continues this week. The A34 northbound carriageway will be closed from the A44 Peartree Interchange to the M40 at junction 9 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 16 March (Monday to Friday only), with the exception of Wednesday 7 and Wednesday 14 March.

During the closures clearly signed diversions will be in place as follows:

Non-motorway traffic: leave the A34 at the Peartree Interchange and follow the A44 towards Woodstock, travel north along the A4095 through Enslow and Kirtlington towards Bicester, turn right onto Vendee Drive to access the A41 travelling either north or south depending on the final destination, while;

Motorway permitted traffic: leave the A34 at either the A423 Hinksey Hill or A44 Peartree Interchange, travel around the Oxford ring-road then east along the A40 to join the M40 at junction 8a, travelling either north or south depending on the final destination.

A303 Bullington to Popham, Hampshire: drainage

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage system between the M3 and the A303 and replacing the joints in the bridges at Bullington Cross continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the east and westbound carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 9 March.

Safety at roadworks

Highways England is working with the industry and road users to reduce the risks of working on the roads. For the safety of road workers and all road users, when you are approaching roadworks:

Keep within the speed limit – it is there for your safety.

Get into the correct lane in good time – don’t keep switching.

Concentrate on the road ahead, not the roadworks.

Be alert for works’ traffic leaving or entering roadworks.

Keep a safe distance – there could be queues in front.

Observe all signs – they are there to help you.

And be alert for road workers, the roads are their workplace.
