All improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 4a Farnborough, Surrey to 5 Hook, Hampshire: road markings

Work to improve journeys by renewing road markings along the M3 takes place this week. The northbound exit slip road into the Fleet Service Area will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 27 April. In addition, the northbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 4a will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Sunday 29 April. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

M3 junctions 5 Hook to 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the M3 near Mapledurwell continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the southbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 26 April.

In addition, the M3 southbound carriageway from junction 5 to junction 7 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Sunday 29 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A30.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: bridge strengthening

Work to maintain journeys by repairing the bridge supports takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road and eastern side of the roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 23 April for 3 nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junction and through Basingstoke.

M3 junctions 7 Basingstoke to 9 Winchester, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the M3 continues this week. The M3 northbound carriageway will be closed from junction 9 to junction 8 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 4 May (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A34 and A303.

M3 junction 11 Chandlers Ford to 13 Eastleigh, Hampshire: drainage

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage system along the M3 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the north and southbound carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 4 May (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: bridge reconstruction and street lighting

Work to improve journeys by improving the street lighting and refurbishing the bridge that carries the link roads over the M4 continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place on the slip roads and a 50mph speed limit is in place on the M4 carriageway until Saturday 5 May. In addition, the slip road from the A329(M) Reading-bound carriageway to the M4 eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 9 May (Monday to Friday only). M4 junction 10 Wokingham to 11 Reading, Berkshire: bridge maintenance

Work to improve journeys by replacing the waterproofing material in the bridge which carries the M4 over the River Loddon continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place on the east and westbound carriageways until Wednesday 2 May.

Work to improve journeys by refurbishing a series of bridges that carry the M4 over local roads continues this week. 24 hour narrow lane, 50mph speed limit and overnight lane closures will be in place on the east and westbound carriageways until July.

M27 junctions 5 Eastleigh to 3 Southampton, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the westbound carriageways continues this week. The westbound carriageway from junction 5 to junction 4 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 23 April for 4 nights.

In addition, the M27 eastbound carriageway from junction 2 to junction 5 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 27 April for 6 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A36, A3090 to Romsey, A27 through North Baddesley and Chilworth, Bassett Green Road and Stoneham Way.

M27 junction 12 Portsmouth, Hampshire: bridge refurbishment and barrier replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing old sections of the safety barrier and by refurbishing a bridge at the junction 12 Paulsgrove Interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways of the M27 and A27 between Farlington and Port Solent until Monday 21 May.

A3 Petersfield, Hampshire: technology maintenance

Work to maintain safety by replacing the weather station alongside the A3 near Petersfield takes place this week. The northbound exit and entry slip roads at the A272 Sheet Link junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 23 April for 4 nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

A3 Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey: maintenance

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out tunnel maintenance takes place this week. The tunnel will be fully closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Saturday 28 April. Southbound traffic will be diverted via the A31 Hogs Back to Longmoor, then south on the A325. Northbound traffic will be diverted via the A325 then along the A31 Hogs Back. A3 Guildford, Surrey: drainage and traffic signals

Work to improve journeys by upgrading the traffic signals at the Dennis Interchange and to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage system along the A3 continues this week. The southbound entry slip road at the Dennis Interchange will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Friday 4 May (Monday to Friday only).

A3(M) Horndean, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the southbound carriageway takes place this week. The A3(M) southbound carriageway from junction 1 to junction 2 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 25 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via London Road and Havant Road.

A27 Farlington, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the A27 Eastern Road Slip Road takes place this week. The A2030 eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Portsbridge roundabout.

A31 Ringwood, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the street lighting at the Ringwood Interchange takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the roundabout and all approach roads overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 23 April for 5 nights. In addition, the slip roads will be closed on separate nights during the same period. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

A31 St Leonards, Dorset: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A31 eastbound carriageway takes place this week. The A31 eastbound carriageway will be closed from West Moors to the Boundary Lane roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Ferndown and West Parley.

A34 Chieveley, West Berkshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A34 southbound carriageway continues this week. The A34 southbound carriageway beneath the M4 junction 13 Chieveley Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 24 April. Traffic will be diverted off the A34 at Chieveley, across the roundabout, re-joining the A34 after the Moto service area. In addition, the A34 southbound carriageway from the Milton Interchange to the M4 Chieveley Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Wantage and Hungerford.

A34 Abingdon, Oxfordshire: street lighting and drainage

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the drainage system along the A34 and street lighting at the Marcham Interchange takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the north and southbound carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 23 April for 5 nights. In addition, the northbound exit and entry slip roads at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 23 April. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

A34 Oxford, Oxfordshire: street lighting and resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the street lighting at the Hinksey Hill Interchange and resurfacing the southbound entry slip road at the Botley Interchange takes place this week. The A34 southbound carriageway from the A44 Peartree Interchange to the A420 Botley Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 23 April for 6 nights (Monday to Friday only).

The southbound slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 April. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions. In addition, Hinksey Hill will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Oxford Road, joining the A34 at the Abingdon North junction.

A34 Kidlington, Oxfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A34 southbound carriageway in Oxfordshire takes place this week. The A34 northbound carriageway will be closed from the A44 Peartree Interchange to junction 9 of the M40 (Bicester) overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 23 April, and from Wednesday 25 April for 3 nights.

During the closures clearly signed diversions will be in place as follows: Non-motorway traffic: via the A44, A4095 through Enslow and Kirtlington, towards Bicester Motorway permitted traffic: A44 then A40 to junction 8a, then north on the M40 to junction 9

A303 Bullington to Micheldever, Hampshire: drainage

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage system between the M3 and the A303 continues this week. Lane 2 of the east and westbound carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 27 April.

A303 Barton Stacey, Hampshire: safety barrier

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the central reservation barrier finishes this week. Lane 2 of the east and westbound carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 27 April.

Safety at roadworks

Highways England is working with the industry and road users to reduce the risks of working on the roads. For the safety of road workers and all road users, when you are approaching roadworks:

Keep within the speed limit – it is there for your safety.

Get into the correct lane in good time – don’t keep switching.

Concentrate on the road ahead, not the roadworks.

Be alert for works’ traffic leaving or entering roadworks.

Keep a safe distance – there could be queues in front.

Observe all signs – they are there to help you.

And be alert for road workers, the roads are their workplace.
