Local Man & Fathers for Justice Founder in Court

Matt O’Connor with his supporters outside of Basingstoke Magistrates Court

Matt O’Connor, founder of ‘Fathers4Justice’, was arrested outside his home in Stockbridge High Street, at 8am on 4th September 2014, and was later charged with Alarm, Harassment and Distress.

Appearing in court, Matt O’Connor entered a plea of Not Guilty, claiming that his arrest was unlawful and politically motivated. A trial date of 12th November 2014 has been set by Basingstoke Magistrates Court.

Hampshire County Councillor for Andover South Division, Tony Hooke, has published a ‘court report’ on his Facebook page from yesterday’s proceedings, which states, “Matt O’Connor said he would not be bullied, intimidated or frightened from pursing the Fathers4Justice campaign, and that he would not allow the voices of those in Fathers4Justice to be silenced by people who he says are ‘acting like political Nazis’.”

Cllr Tony Hooke supported Matt O’Connor at the hearing.
