A group of local Army Wives that come from Shipton Bellinger, Tidworth and Andover got together to produce a fantastic new calendar to raise money for the Help For Heroes and Combat Stress charities.
Tilly Lambert first started the Armed Buns calendar 4 years ago when her then boyfriend, now husband was posted to Afghanistan and she needed something to occupy her whilst he was away, despite her husband now being home and safe, the tradition has continued and will go on for the foreseeable future. Initially the calendar only raised proceeds for the popular Help for Heroes charity but recently some of the money also goes to the Combat Stress charity which is in place to help Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
With hair and make-up replicating a vintage 50’s style, the girls got dressed up in their own tasteful underwear from various High Street shops for the photo shoot set in Basingstoke in July this year with photographer Emma Lambert. Tilly told us, “Some of the girls who hadn’t been in the calendar before are always a little nervous but the day is always such good fun with us all having hair and make-up done and with music pumping out throughout the day, it was really hot on the day of the 2014 shoot and we just had one fan blowing warm air on us all day.”
One of the calendar girls, Abi Aldridge said of the day: “It’s a bit nerve wracking the first time you take your gown off and stand in front of the camera in your lingerie, but the girls are all so supportive you soon get into it and it always turns into a really fun day, no matter what the weathers doing. We always turn up a bit quiet and nervous but after a couple of hours we’re strutting about like its completely normal to be half naked!”
You can get a copy of the Armed Buns calendar for only £10 + p&p (which would make a great Christmas Present) from http://www.armedbuns.com/buy-your-calendar.php
