The little people at Longparish Little School have been enjoying the beautiful weather by opening their very own allotment recently.
Thanks to some local donations from Hillier Garden Centre, Wyevale Garden centre and Andover Garden Buildings, the children have been busy and hard at work tending to their new plot.
The launch of the new allotment, based in Longparish village, is another great way that the children have brought to life one of their recent learning topics, something that is a top priority for the team at the pre-school.
Claire Nash, Longparish Little School Manager, commented: “The children have spent a whole term learning about different foods and where food comes from. Having our very own allotment that the children can look after, seemed like the perfect opportunity to really engage them in the food growing process, in a very hands on way.”
Claire explained “It’s great to see the children get so excited about planting the potatoes, carrots, strawberries, tomatoes, beans and much more. They all take turns to visit and do some jobs, then report back on progress to the rest of the children. They can’t wait to bring home their produce and make some healthy food snacks. We’re all extremely grateful for the donations that have helped make our allotment a reality”.
Longparish Little School is a small, friendly, purpose built pre-school for children from 2 years and 6 months.
