Lady Does Lunch at The Cricketers in LongparishThe Cricketers in Longparish is nestled perfectly in the centre of the village, a proper village pub that is run by Donna and Paul, with their daughter, Lily, working behind the bar.

A friendly welcome from Lily awaited us as we arrived, and we ordered our drinks, logged in to the wifi and sat down to peruse the menus.

Donna and Paul have been running the Cricketers since mid 2014 and have re-branded the popular local eatery as a ‘Sausage and Pie’ pub.

I ordered the Sausage and Onion Ciabatta (£6.50) and my friend chose the Lamb and Mint burger (£10.95).

After our order was taken, Lily returned with our cutlery and napkins – service is definitely given with a smile.

The food arrived quickly. The Sausage and Onion Baguette was full of juicy fat sausages and caramelised onions, served in a crispy ciabatta bun, which was served with a good portion of beefeater chips and a small fresh crisp side salad.

The Lamb & Mint Burger already had the mint mixed in with the meat, but my friend asked for a further mint dressing which arrived on the plate. It was also served with a good portion of beefeater chips, a fresh crisp side salad and two giant onion rings.

We decided to have dessert and my friend order the Chocolate Brownie with Fresh Cream (£4.95) while I ordered the Gooey Chocolate Pudding with Custard (£4.95).

The Brownie was perfectly chewey and chocolatey and was served warm with a cold fresh single cream.

The chocolate pudding came with custard, and it reminded me of my childhood with hot chocolate soft cake and thick creamy custard.

The whole bill came to £40. That included two main meals, two desserts, two alcoholic drink and two soft drinks.
