Lady Does Lunch | The Lady Does Lunch at Feathers Restaurant | Andover & VillagesI decided to visit Feathers Restaurant. Conveniently located in the nearby village of Weyhill and set against the beautiful backdrop of the Hawk Conservancy Trusts woodland and wildflower meadows.

As it was a Sunday we were not surprised to find Feathers busy with the hustle and bustle of lunchtime traffic. The large dining space has the capacity to seat 120 visitors, and it was a good job to as they just kept on coming. The restaurant offers views of the some of the Trust thanks to large expanse of glass that takes up most of the back of the restaurant. It was a lovely feature that kept the eternal fidget that is me entertained watching the goings on outside.

The restaurant staff were warm and exceedingly hospitable and we were met with lovely smiles upon friendly faces. The cafeteria style serving space was a quick and easy way to choose and order with boards full of light bites, mains and daily specials to select from. There were also a variety of sandwiches, snacks and drinks ready to go.

There is nothing like some good old fashioned comfort food to warm the cockles on a wintery day and our choices of Jacket Potato with Coleslaw and Cheese and Ham, Egg and Chips ticked all the boxes. After purchasing drinks and paying for our order at the till we chose seats by the window and settled in.

Upon finishing my pot of tea and with the glow returning to my cheeks our mains arrived. My £7.85 Jacket Potato with Coleslaw and Cheese was not for the faint hearted! The huge and fluffy potato was crammed with crunchy, creamy coleslaw and ooozy melting cheese and accompanied by a delicious fresh, crisp salad. It was a tasty and filling main indeed.

My sidekicks Ham Egg and Chips for £7.25 didn’t disappoint. The thick slabs of ham topped with runny yolk eggs and crunchy chips left him rather full and jolly happy.

As I said previously both mains were generous to say the least, but there is always room for chocolate – two portions of tasty traybake to be exact! I somehow managed to polish off a square of the Chocolate Crunch which was full of sweet cherries and crumbly biscuit, Yum! My companion was almost finished off by the rich and moist Chocolate Brownie but did not give up until the last crumb had disappeared.

Our lunch came to a total of £22.00 including a pot of tea and a soft drink which we considered a very reasonable price. And with all that is on offer at Feathers we will in no doubt be back again very soon. It was cold, it was February…. but it was not rubbish anymore.

Feathers is open seven days a week from 9.00a.m. to 5.00p.m. every day except Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The restaurant provides the perfect place to re-fuel for an afternoon of adventure at the Hawk Conservancy Trust, for a lovely lunch in a family friendly environment, a quintessentially English afternoon tea, or a super supper. For those wanting something little stronger than a cuppa the restaurant is fully licensed and serves a selection of wines and beers. Free wifi is also available.
