We walked into the Ewe and I Tea Rooms in the Weyhill Fairground and were whisked away to a vintage room full of farmhouse decor and the smell of coffee wafting through the air.
Scones the size of a small kitten were piled on tiered cake plates but we opted for a bacon sandwich each and a cup of Twinings English Breakfast Tea, we paid by card and then found a seat by the windows, adorned with a pretty table cloths we sat down on lovely sturdy chairs. A few moments later, the server arrived with a pot of tea in a proper tea pot, milk in an adorable jug and 2 cups and saucers, mismatched but giving that amazing vitage throw back feel. There was a table at the back filled with magazines and daily newspapers and a sewing machine (I didn’t find out what this was for!)
The tea was delicious and equally as important, piping hot, which is not easy when transferring into a pot, we were both able to get 2 full cups from the teapot.
As we waited for our sandwiches, the cafe started to fill up, we commented that we had got there just in time, however just before our order arrived, the tea room was full and all of the tables were occupied.
The sandwiches arrived and I was shocked at how big they were, massive doorsteps of fresh bread filled to burst with well cooked back bacon, they really were very delicious and I really must say that this last minute breakfast stop is the best I have ever had, it was only £11 and we will definitely be coming here again.
