Labour Parliamentary Candidate for North West Hampshire Andrew Adams has welcomed his party’s ambitious plans to hand £30 billion worth of spending power from Whitehall to local authorities, aiming to create economic powerhouses in every region.
Andrew said ‘This is an ambitious program to empower local authorities and is good news for people here in Andover. Labour has a better plan to ensure communities in every part of the country benefit from the nation’s prosperity. Local authorities, local people and local businesses will come together to assert new powers over training, economic development, housing, back to work schemes and local bus and rail networks. Andover desperately needs some focus and energy – Labour are leading on the localism agenda that will help our town prosper’.
Labour have launched an Action for Andover campaign demanding better representation for the town at all levels and calling for an Andover Task Force to support local businesses and bring new investment. They will be campaigning in the town centre every Saturday and are asking local people to come along to talk about their ideas to improve Andover.
