Independent Retailer Grant awarded to Fancy Nails Salon

Test Valley Borough Council has awarded a £1,000 Independent Retailer Grant to Tran Thi Hong for her recently opened nail salon, Fancy Nails Salon, at 7 London Street, Andover.

Tran emigrated from Vietnam six years ago and previously worked for a nail salon in Romsey while looking for suitable premises to begin her business. The salon provides a wide list of services including extensions, polishing, pedicures and manicures.

Tran said: “It has been exciting for me to set up my own business and I would like to thank Test Valley Borough Council for this award and their ongoing support with Fancy Nails Salon.”

St Mary’s ward member, Councillor David Denny, presented the first installment of the Independent Retailer Grant to Tran’s husband, Nguyen Trung Hieu. Councillor Denny said: “Tran and Nguyen have worked hard to establish Fancy Nails Salon, a popular nail salon with regular, returning customers. It is an asset to Andover and the local economy to have another independent retailer situated in the town centre.”

Recipients of the £1,000 grant are awarded £500 after three months of trading and a further £500 after nine months. To be eligible for the grant, new or existing independent businesses must occupy a town centre ground floor unit which has been vacant for at least one month. Qualifying businesses include shops, restaurants and cafes.
