Increase in Fuel Thefts From Tesco Andover

Notes have appeared across the pumps at Andover’s Tesco Petrol Station, prompting speculation of an increase of petrol thefts in the area.

The pumps were improved last year with new ‘Pay at Pump’ technology.

The notices warn that the petrol station is monitored by CCTV and any failure to pay for petrol will result in the driver being reported to Hampshire Police.

A Tesco spokesperson said, “Like other petrol suppliers, we’re sometimes the victim of crime when people do not pay for their fuel. We work closely with police at all our stores and petrol stations across the country, and use monitoring technology to combat this activity.”
