Local News | Horses Burned in Theft and Arson Attack | Andover & VillagesBetween the hours of 0230 and 0400 on 11th November, unknown offenders targeted properties and vehicles in the area of Horris Hill, near to Penwood forest and the A343 Andover road.

Offenders searched insecure vehicles at one property before moving on to another nearby residence.

At the second property several vehicles were entered and CDs were taken from within. A tack room, adjoining a stable was entered and saddles and other tack items were taken. Some of the saddles taken were extremely valuable.

At some point a fire broke out, at this time the cause is unknown. This fire spread from an Iveco-Ford horse box into the stables. Two horses were injured in the fire, one of which suffered serious burns which are causing the animal extreme discomfort (veterinary care is being provided). The other horse is less seriously injured but was very nearly badly burned.

Fortunately the owners of the stable were woken early enough to save the lives of these animals and escaped injury themselves. The family are deeply shocked by this unusual incident and any information relating to this incident will be gratefully received.

We would urgently like to hear from anyone in the area of Penwood, Newtown or Horris Hill who has CCTV images of any persons acting suspiciously or vehicles travelling in the area between the above times.

Anyone who may have seen or heard anything which may be related to this incidents is asked to contact Hampshire Police as soon as possible on the 101 number quoting 44150392524.
