The collision took place in Balksbury Hill, Upper Clatford, between 6am and 6.30am this morning (Monday, February 15).

A 51-year-old man was changing a tyre on his grey Land Rover Defender when he saw headlights coming towards him from the Salisbury Road direction.

There was a collision between the car and the man, which led to the man being knocked forward and hitting his head on his own vehicle, the grey Land Rover Defender.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

The man was taken to Southampton General Hospital. At first, his injuries were thought to be serious but an assessment revealed the man had not received life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

The man has been unable to give a description of the car involved.
