School and College News | Harrow Way Celebrates Class of 2015Harrow Way, named in the ‘Top 50 List of the Most Improved Schools in the Country’, has once again delivered with their 2015 GCSE results. Staff and students are celebrating this morning with 65% achieving five GCSEs grade A* to C and 52% achieving five GCSEs grade A* to C including Maths and English (results pending a review of English papers*). Mathematics achieved an impressive pass rate of 77% A*-C – 13% above the national average, putting Harrow Way in the top 20% of schools in the country for levels of progress in this subject. 100% of students achieved 1+ GCSE grade A*-G.

The other English Baccalaureate subjects performed superbly with 75% A* to C for Geography; 100% A* to C for French; 80% A* to C for Spanish; 84% A* to C for Core Science; 80% A*-C Computer Science and 76% A*-C for Additional Science. Physics, Chemistry and Biology were all over 90%. Other subjects also did well with Drama and Dance 100% A*-C; Art 85% A*-C; Music 90% A*-C

Many staff joined the students as they collected their results to share the moment and a delighted Headteacher Michael Serridge said: “Every cohort is different and I am very proud of the class of 2015 – their achievements today conclude an outstanding year here at Harrow Way. Not only are we in the Top 50 List of Most Improved Schools in the Country’ but we also top the league in Hampshire for our ‘Most Able’ students in English. All these achievements have taken incredible hard work and commitment from the students and of course our exceptionally talented teaching team.”

Michael Serridge has previously put on record his intention to see Harrow Way become an ‘Outstanding’ school, something all the staff and governors are wholly committed to achieving. “Next year our aspirations are even higher, as we strive continually for improvement in all that we do. Projections for the new Year 11 are very good and we are looking forward with great anticipation for even greater accolades for every pupil in the school. Harrow Way remains a popular choice for children in and around Andover – we are over-subscribed for our September 2015 intake.”

Within the overall results there were a number of individual success stories. Katie Guildford, Alex Morling, Abigail Jones, Peter Josephs and Sian Allen all achieved eight+ A*/A grades. 16 students achieved 5+A*/A grades.

Harrow Way will be hosting an Open Evening on 22nd September 2015 6.30pm to 9.00pm for prospective families wishing to learn more about the school. Open Mornings will also be held 23rd and 24th September 2015, 9.15am to 10.30am.
