Test Valley Borough Council has awarded a £500 Business Incentive Grant to Andover-based handyman Paul Brown to support his new business, PLWB Contracts.

Paul has turned his hand to painting, decorating and general household jobs as a sole trader following a career in the military. He is currently taking on work from private homeowners as well as letting agencies that cover a vast area and also include jobs in military accommodation.

Paul said: “I would like to thank Test Valley Borough Council for the grant. The money has been used to pay some of the start-up costs of running a business which has helped me to get PLWB contracts off the ground. I’m enjoying having a variety of work and I take pride in what I do. It’s great to meet new customers and to see their jobs through from start to finish.”

Economic Portfolio Holder, Councillor Peter Giddings, said: “The Council is committed to enhancing Test Valley as a great place to work and do business, and the Business Incentive Grant is one of the ways in which we seek to achieve this. Paul has worked hard to start a new career and I applaud his commitment and dedication.”
