Traffic News | Hampshire Roadworks for the Week - 22nd January 2018 | Andover & VillagesThe following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 19 January 2018 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement The M3 in Surrey and Hampshire reopened as a smart motorway on Monday 31 July. The hard shoulder has been converted to a new fourth traffic lane in each direction on a 13.4 mile section of the motorway between junction 4a for Farnborough and junction 2 for the M25, and cutting-edge technology sets the speed limit to match conditions, helps spot any queuing traffic, incidents or broken down vehicles, and informs drivers about conditions ahead.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: bridge strengthening

M23 junctions 8 to 10: smart motorway

Work to improve journeys continues this week by undertaking early vegetation clearance. There will be lane closures in both directions between junction 8 & 9 on Monday 22 January for five nights between 8pm and 6am.

M23 Junction 10 to 9 Crawley, Sussex: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys continues this week on the M23 between junctions 10 and 9 for resurfacing.

On Thursday 25 January the entry slip northbound with be closed overnight between 10pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the adjacent junction. In addition there will be lane closures between junctions 10 and 9 on the northbound carriageway.

On Friday 26 January there will be a full northbound carriageway closure at junction 10 from 10pm, this will remain in place until Monday 29 January at 4am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A264 and A22. Alternatively traffic travelling to Gatwick will use a clearly signed diversion using the A2011 and A23.

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: bridge reconstruction

Work to improve journeys by refurbishing the bridge that carries the link roads over the M4 continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place on the slip roads and a 50mph speed limit is in place on the M4 carriageway until March.

The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on 25 January. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via junction 8/9 and return. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on 26 January. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via junction 11 and return.

M4 junction 10 Wokingham to 11 Reading, Berkshire: bridge maintenance

Work to improve journeys by replacing the waterproofing material in the bridge which carries the M4 over the River Loddon continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place on the east and westbound carriageways until March.

The M4 westbound carriageway from junction 10 to 11 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Sunday 28 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Lower Earley Way.

M4 junction 11 Reading to 12 Theale, Berkshire: bridge maintenance

Work to improve journeys by replacing the joint of the bridge which carries the M4 over the River Kennet continues this week. The eastbound entry slip road at junction 12 will be closed and lane closures will be in place on the eastbound carriageway overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Wednesday 31 January (Monday to Friday). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4 towards Reading town centre, then south on the A33, joining the M4 at junction 11.

M4 junctions 12 Theale to 13 Chieveley, West Berkshire: bridge refurbishment

Work to improve journeys by refurbishing a series of bridges that carry the M4 over local roads continues this week. 24 hour narrow lane, 50mph speed limit and overnight lane closures will be in place on the east and westbound carriageways until July.

M27 junctions 3 to 4 Southampton, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the M27 near Southampton starts this week. Lane closures will be in place on the eastbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 22 January for 5 nights.

M27 junction 5 Eastleigh, Hampshire: bridge refurbishment

Work to improve journeys by replacing the joint in the bridge which carries the M27 over Wide Lane near junction 5 starts this week. The westbound exit slip road at junction 5 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 22, Wednesday 24 and Friday 26 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3 and return.

In addition, the westbound carriageway between the exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 23 and Thursday 25 January. Traffic will be diverted down and across the roundabout, re-joining the M27 via the entry slip road.

M27 junction 12 Portsmouth, Hampshire: bridge refurbishment

Work to improve journeys by refurbishing a bridge at the junction 12 Paulsgrove Interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways of the M27 and A27 between Farlington and Port Solent until April.

In addition, the A27/M27 westbound carriageway will be closed from the A2030 Eastern Road junction to M27 junction 12 overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Friday 16 March (Monday to Friday). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Eastern Road (A2030), Havant Road, Southampton Road and the M27 junction 12 link.

A3 Guildford, Surrey: surveys

Work to undertake surveys and investigations along the A3 at Guildford starts this week. The A3 southbound carriageway will be closed from the Stoke Interchange to the Dennis Interchange overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 22 January for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A25.

A34 Beacon Hill to Litchfield, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the southbound carriageway continues this week. The A34 southbound carriageway will be closed from the A343 Wash Common/Highclere junction to the A303 Bullington Cross overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Wednesday 31 January (Monday to Saturday). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A339, Basingstoke and A303.

A34 Hinksey Hill (Oxford), Oxfordshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the street lighting around the Hinksey Hill junction continues this week. The A34 northbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5am, until Thursday 25 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Botley interchange and return.

In addition, the southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5am, from Friday 26 January for 5 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Botley interchange and return.

A34 Kidlington (Oxford), Oxfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A34 southbound carriageway between Gosford and Peartree Hill continues this week. The A34 southbound carriageway from the M40 (junction 9) to the A44 Peartree Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 26 January.

During the closures the following clearly signed diversions will be in place:

Non-motorway traffic: A41 towards Bicester, Vendee Drive, A4095 through Kirtlington towards Woodstock, A44 Woodstock Road, joining the A34 at A44 Peartree Interchange Motorway permitted traffic: M40 Junction 8a, A40 and Oxford ring-road, either joining the A34 at the A44 Peartree Interchange or A423 Hinksey Hill

A303 Bullington to Popham, Hampshire: drainage and resurfacing

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage system along the A303 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the A303 east and westbound carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until March (Monday to Friday only).

A404 Handy Cross to Marlow, Buckinghamshire: survey

Work to undertake surveys and investigations along the A404 takes place this week. The A404 southbound carriageway will be closed from the Handy Cross roundabout to the Westhorpe Interchange at Marlow overnight, 9pm to 6am, on 23 January. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via Wycombe Road.

A404 Marlow, Buckinghamshire: signage

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining the signage at the Westhorpe Interchange takes place this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 24 January. In addition, the southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 25 January. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.
