Local animal charity, Hampshire Greyhound Rescue, are the happy recipients of a £4,586 donation from Support Adoption For Pets, after a national fundraising drive, in which Andover residents raised more than any other town in the UK.
The Support Adoption For Pets #MakesMeSmile campaign took place across all Pets at Home stores in the UK, and the charity partner for the Andover store was Hampshire Greyhound Rescue – a 100% volunteer charitable organisation.
The charity will use the money to help towards its vet bills and expenses, including spaying and neutering, as well as maintenance and upkeep of the kennels.
David Woods at Hampshire Greyhound Rescue said: “We would like to thank Mark and the team at Pets at Home not only for nominating us in the first place, but making us feel welcome. They and their wonderful customers raised over £4,500 to fund our goal of finding loving homes for the ex-racing Greyhound, who find themselves homeless when they are no longer quick enough, or fit enough, to win”.
Support Adoption For Pets is an independent charity established by Pets at Home in 2006, since then it has helped over 950 re-homing centres and animal welfare organisations across the UK. In addition to its fundraising work it also runs dedicated adoption centres in more than 370 Pets at Home stores.
