The Andover Carnival Team are delighted to announce that two very different local groups have been chosen to benefit from the Andover Carnival this year: Andover Dance Group Oblivion and Hampshire Greyhound Rescue have been chosen by the committee to receive donations from the Carnival’s fundraising activities.
Oblivion Dance Group is an inclusive dance group for children and young adults aged from seven to twenty-one. Open to local children of all ability levels, from all backgrounds, the aim of the group is to provide fun and to build confidence and creativity.
Hampshire Greyhound Rescue was founded in 2006 by a number of greyhound owners in the Andover area. They are an all-volunteer, non-profit, self financing, charitable organisation who accept no sponsorship from the greyhound racing industry and whose sole aim is to provide a haven for those unfortunate greyhounds who slip through the safety net after their racing careers are over.
These two very different groups demonstrate the diversity of our community and provide an excellent example of the range of different community organisations, not just registered charities, which benefit from the fundraising activities of the Andover Carnival.
Carnival Day 2014 will be held on Sunday 20th July with our Family Fun Day commencing at 12 noon until 9pm.
