Andover’s high street was redesigned into a pleasant and exciting contest on Fridays in August. Four Fun Fridays, unfortunately, became three because the rain stopped flowing on one day, but Friday’s still saw a diverse road recreation program, live music, inventive lectures and contests for the whole household to enjoy, provided to you by the Borough Council test valley.
Shoppers and visiting relatives were willing to get caught up in street theatre productions, second chalk painting, storytelling, face painting, and meets in trouble with flying carpets and damsels! The topics assisted visitors to appreciate the beach, interact with fairy stories and myths, or become component of the circus–all without abandoning the road.
The event feedback was very positive and included comments such as:
“Wonderful to see so many youths involved in activities of innovation… And brilliant that it was available, outdoors in the sun and free in the summer holidays”
“The street theatre was excellent, the walkabout (including in the rain!!) especially animated the street and engaged people in fun!
“Absolutely wonderful to see children (and teenagers) wandering around yesterday with coloured heads and masks… It feels almost like a carnival.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Phil North said: “This has been the fourth consecutive year of Four Fun Fridays, with each year seeing an increase in the number of people enjoying the varied range of activities and performances. Even the inclement weather didn’t dampen the spirits of the performers and visitors alike, and it was great to see so many engaged and excited children enjoying something different during their summer holiday.”
