Five Tonnes of Rubbish Cleared on Sparkle DayTest Valley Borough Council’s Environmental Service visited Vernham Dean, Upton, Ibthorpe and Hurstbourne Tarrant as part of its Sparkle Day programme on Tuesday, 19 May.

The team cleared more than five tonnes of rubbish, removed graffiti and cleaned road signs. In addition, as part of the Council’s Recycling Stars project, staff provided information about recycling to residents at approximately 200 properties as well as to pupils at Vernham Dean Gillum’s Primary School. They then held a roadshow at Hurstbourne Tarrant Primary School and delivered recycling messages to around 50 parents and children.

Environmental Portfolio Holder, Councillor Graham Stallard, commented: “This is the fourth year we have carried out Sparkle Days as part of the Love Where You Live campaign and they continue to be successful. I’d like to thank the team for encouraging more residents to recycle and for their hard work to make the area sparkle.”

The next Sparkle Day will take place in North Baddesley on Friday, 26 June 2015. For more information, visit www.testvalley.gov.uk/love.
