Daniel Hannan MEP and the Economist Dr Gerard Lyons will speak for ‘Leave’, while Solicitor General Robert Buckland MP and CBI Director of Campaigns Andy Bagnall will speak for ‘Remain’.

Andy Bagnall is Director of Campaigns for the CBI and will be arguing for Britain to remain in the EU this evening. As Director of Campaigns, Andy co-ordinates CBI efforts on issues that cut across all the areas they work on. These issues range from the UK’s relationship with the European Union to the CBI’s political engagement with all the major parties. Andy has previously held several policy and campaigning jobs, and has a background in election organisation. He was a special adviser to the last Labour government, serving two cabinet ministers in three departments over four years.
Robert Buckland is serving as Solicitor General in Her Majesty’s Government and is the MP for South Swindon. He will be arguing to remain in the EU this evening. Robert attended the Inns of Court School of Law and was Called to the Bar at Inner Temple in October 1991, serving as a barrister in Wales and then again in England until his election to Parliament in 2010. In Parliament, he was elected to the Justice Select Committee in 2010, serving until 2013. Robert was also a member of the Joint Committee on Human Rights, the Commons Standards Committee and the Commons Privileges Committee. In 2014, the Prime Minister appointed Robert as Solicitor General.
Daniel Hannan is a Conservative Member of the European Parliament for South East England having been elected in 1999. He is also a journalist, writing for the Telegraph and CapX. He will be arguing for Britain to leave the EU this evening. After stints as a speech-writer for Michael Howard and William Hague, Daniel was elected to the European Parliament at the 1999 election. He led the campaign to withdraw the Conservative Party from the EPP–ED, joining the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) with his Conservative colleagues when it was formed in 2009.
Dr Gerard Lyons is a leading international economist and will be arguing for Britain to leave the EU this evening. The Times has referred to him as, “One of the leading analysts of the global economy”. An ace forecaster he has twice topped the Sunday Times annual forecasting poll, been rated number one global forecaster by Bloomberg and the month before the financial crisis was one of only two UK economists predicting a deep, imminent recession. From January 2013 to May 2016 he was Chief Economic Advisor to Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London. Previously he spent 27 years in senior roles in The City.
