The rubber mulch surface is an environmentally-friendly material which is made from recycled tyres. The Council has laid the mulch in a part of Anton Mill car park and the bus station, and will use it in other areas of the borough if it proves effective. The durable nature of the material means that the areas will be kept tidy, level and safe because the material will not rot or blow away.

Planning Policy and Transport Portfolio Holder, Councillor Martin Hatley, said: “We are trialing the environmentally-friendly material in small areas in two public areas to see how well it embeds into the ground. The material is low maintenance and improves the overall look of the area.” For more information, please contact Test Valley Borough Council on 01264 368107.
