Education News | Double Success for Rookwood | Andover & VillagesAs the end of a busy and successful academic year draws near, Rookwood School is delighted to celebrate yet more great achievements of its pupils.

Amelie Bolam, in Year 7, recently received the fantastic news that she had won the Intermediate Level of the RIBI National Young Photographer Competition.

The competition was open to pupils from schools across the UK and entrants were required to produce a portfolio of three photographs based on the theme ‘A Different Perspective’. Amelie’s entry focused on reflections and the way in which objects look different when reflected.

Art teacher, Miss Treasure, said, “We are thrilled that Amelie’s photography has been recognised at a national level. The Arts are an integral part of life at Rookwood and we have a strong history of producing award-winning work. We are incredibly proud of Amelie for continuing this tradition.”

Also earlier this month, Ellie MacDonald, in Year 6, competed at the ISA National Championships, where she won gold in the Shot Put event. Ellie’s incredible throw of 7.40m was her personal best to date and impressed all the judges!

Miss Brown, Head of PE, said, “Huge congratulations to Ellie for achieving gold at the ISA National Championships. Ellie only began training for the event in March this year, making her achievement even more outstanding!”
