The brand new Andover Shilling Fair is an unmissable free day out celebrating the town’s Georgian heritage, taking place on the High Street on Sunday 13 August from 10am-4.30pm.

Andover’s Georgian streets will come to life with a programme bursting with colourful street performers, Regency costumed figures, a food, drink and craft market, traditional fairground attractions, interactive heritage trail tours, local musicians, rural craft displays, donkey rides, face painting and fun hands-on family craft activities.

Free tickets are also available for the Andover Heritage Trail, brought to life through an immersive tour. The tour brings the town’s history alive and visitors will meet a number of interesting characters as they are guided on their journey by Mr Heath of Heath’s bank. Tours take place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm and must be booked in advance through The Lights box office on 01264 368368.

The event is being managed by the new Andover Shilling Fair voluntary committee and FUSE Projects Event Management, with financial support from Test Valley Borough Council, Andover Town Council, Andover Leisure Centre and the Andover Town Centre Partnership.

Town Councillor Barbara Long, who is leading on the event said: ‘The main aims of Andover Shilling Fair are to increase footfall to the town centre and boost community spirit, through providing a number of fun heritage based activities for all ages to take part in and enjoy together. It’s fantastic to have so many organisations working together on this exciting new event, showcasing everything that Andover has to offer.’
