A screening opinion has been submitted to Test Valley Borough Council today, with a view to turning Stanbridge Earls School in Awbridge into a 155 unit care community.
Screening is the process of deciding which projects require an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). An applicant for planning permission may ask the planning authority for a “screening opinion” before submitting the application
The school closed in 2014 following a series of inspections and investigations which reduced pupil numbers so much, the school became financially unviable.
Audley Retirement Villages bought the site for £10M and they plan to build a retirement village on the grounds.
The determination deadline on the application is 31st May 2016.
