As dawn broke on Saturday morning 7th June, rather than getting lighter, things suddenly started to get much darker. The heavens opened accompanied by thunder and lightning. Fortunately by mid-morning things were on the turn and a sunny day was to follow.
At 1pm sharp the bride arrived at Christ Church, Smannell, and the ceremony was underway. The service was followed by Pimms and the traditional Wedding breakfast at Esseborne Manor.
The father of the bride kicked off with his speech, followed by the Groom and his best man. All gave excellent speeches and the guests learned more about Phil’s love for, and devotion to, his beloved Southampton Football Club.
The evening was topped off with a barbecue and disco. The newly-weds are off to Cornwall to enjoy their honeymoon.
I’m sure the residents of Alamein ward will allow Phil, and his new wife a week’s break from the rigours of Council work, at least for now!
