A Test Valley borough councillor has helped to fund a sports day in Over Wallop thanks to the authority’s Councillor Community Grant scheme.
Councillor Tony Hope has contributed £200 towards the sports day which will take place at Over Wallop sports field on Thursday, 20 August and will give children aged 7 to 16 the opportunity to get active and try different sports. Football, cricket, rugby and rounders will be on offer and children will be able to rotate between the sports of their choice.
Andover Rugby Club, Over Wallop Cricket Club, Hampshire Police Cadets and Test Valley Borough Council will coach the sessions, while ward councillor Tony Hope, local police and Council officers will be in attendance to meet the public to discuss any issues of local concern.
Councillor Tony Hope said: “The sports day will be a great opportunity to bring local people together. The children will be able to try different sports through structured activity and the event will create a sense of community spirit. We have worked closely with Over Wallop Parish Council to host and fund the event so that it is free for the public to attend.”
Places must be booked in advance and registration will take place from 9.30am with sports starting at 10am. To book a place, please complete the short booking form at www.testvalley.gov.uk/overwallopsports and return it before 14 August.
