Test Valley Borough Council has presented a £500 Councillor Community Grant to a support group for children on the autistic spectrum and their families.
Andover Alamein ward members approved the approach from Romsey Community School to operate activity mornings at the Longmeadow Centre in Cricketers Way. The sessions are designed to provide a range of activities suitable for children on the autistic spectrum and their parents, carers and siblings in a safe environment.
Presenting the cheque, Councillor North said: “The RCS group is a worthy recipient of the Councillor Community Grant. The money will be used to purchase some sensory equipment for the children to use during their activities, as well as some e-learning resources that will also be available for adults attending learning courses at the centre.”
The Test Valley Borough Council Councillor Community Grant scheme helps to fund community-led initiatives. Local councillors allocate funds to projects that they identify as meeting a need in the community based on feedback and ideas from residents. The scheme will reopen for applications from Monday, 11 May 2015. For more information about the scheme, visit www.testvalley.gov.uk.
