Council Gives Company a LiftTest Valley Borough Council has awarded The Platform Lift Company almost £9,000 from the Andover Skills Training Fund to help the business support its staff. The company has used the fund to pay for customer service and management courses for a number of its employees.

The Council secured the £500,000 Andover Skills Training Fund as part of its planning agreement for the Andover Business Park. The fund aims to encourage Andover businesses to offer skills training to employees living within the SP10 postcode, or the Picket Twenty, Picket Piece or Augusta Park developments.

Economic Portfolio Holder, Councillor Peter Giddings, said: “Since the Council launched the Andover Skills Training Fund four years ago, it has helped more than 350 Andover residents enhance their careers through training. The fund has now supported around 130 businesses to raise productivity by investing in developing the skills of their workforce.”

To be eligible for funding, businesses must employ fewer than 100 people. For more information about the fund, please visit
