Hundreds of pupils from schools across Andover celebrated their junior graduations at The Lights this week.
The 11th annual Andover Junior Graduation saw more than 500 Year Six students from ten schools across the town come together with their parents and carers to celebrate their move from primary or junior school to secondary school.
Mayor of Test Valley, councillor Martin Hatley, welcomed the pupils before they received a certificate from the University of Winchester and had a photo taken with their teachers.
Mayor of Test Valley, councillor Martin Hatley, said: “To see all the children getting so excited to celebrate what is a fantastic achievement is lovely. The occasion is always inspiring and gives the children and their parents an opportunity to look back on something that they should be immensely proud of.
“It’s also a perfect chance to look towards the future and ensure the pupils know what options will be available to them in the next few years.”
The events are organised and funded by Test Valley Borough Council with the support of the University of Winchester.
As well as giving children the chance to don a traditional robe and gown, the ceremony is an opportunity to encourage the students to consider higher education in future years.
