Test Valley Borough Council’s contractors will begin work to tarmac the front section of the overflow car park at Charlton today, Monday 23 November. During this time, access to the area will not be permitted. The work should be completed by Friday 4 December.
The Council hopes to allow access to the top overflow car park over the weekend of the 28 November, but this may not be possible and vehicles may have to use other car parks in the Charlton area.
From Monday 7 December, work is also planned to commence to tarmac the footpath that runs along the left hand side of the boating lake at Charlton. This work will take approximately three weeks to complete. During this time, there will be no access along the left hand side of the boating lake. However, the footpaths around the right hand side of the boating lake and the whole fishing lake will still be open to the public.
Portfolio Holder for Community and Leisure Services, Councillor Tony Ward, said: “It is important that we continue to maintain our parks and leisure areas. This work is necessary to improve the overflow car park for Charlton as well as the footpath around the boating lake. We appreciate everyone’s patience while the work is carried out and apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
