Romsey Home News | Hedgehog Awareness Week - Can You Be A Hedgehog Hero | Andover & VillagesHedgehog Awareness Week, organised by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, runs from April 30th to May 6th this year.

The week is designed to highlight the problems facing hedgehogs and how you can help them, alongside lots of tips to make the animals safe.

This year efforts are focussed on the Society’s Hedgehog Heroes project, where councils and tool hire companies are asked to put warning stickers on their strimmers and cutting machines.

The BHPS has produced a waterproof sticker to be placed onto machines and are asking people to get in touch and request the free stickers for their machines. Then send in a photo of your stickers in use an you could be added to the Hedgehog Heroes ‘Roll of Honour’.

Fay Vass, BHPS Chief Executive, said “We are asking people to pledge to do at least one positive thing for hedgehogs during the week and if possible let us know.

“Send us pictures of the hedgehog hole or home you create, or from the event you organise, and if you are on social media do use #hedgehogweek.”

BHPS is hoping to raise £2,000 during Hedgehog Awareness Week 2017, and people can donate by texting HHOG17, followed by the amount you wish to donate up to £10, to 70070.
