I was aware that we had a new bridal boutique opening in the area and was emailed this morning to let me know that the grand opening was at 10am! I rushed to get out of the house so I could make it as I was especially excited that the Prince, Princess and their attendants were going to be there and, as Andover and Villages hadn’t yet seen them, I just had to go!
I turned up to a drizzly Andover High Street but was instantly perked up by the view of helium filled Pink and White Balloons by the Corals Betting Shop oustide of a door that leads up to Pure Design hairdressers, which is owned by Larna Burley who is the proprietor of Burleys Bridal Boutique along with her daughter Charlotte Burley.
The Mum and Daughter team set out to open the boutique after Charlotte started to plan her own wedding, which takes place in Summer next year. Buying a wedding dress from the wedding shop in Picket Piece, which has now closed along with the others in the town, there became an opening for Larna to achieve a long held dream and to provide brides with an essential service, along with brides not having to traipse away from the town to be able to try on and choose their dresses for their special day. The added bonus of this boutique is that brides can get the full works for not only their wedding day, but for trials beforehand.
Hairdressers are on hand to style the bridal party hair around veils, tiaras and other important ‘up dos’ as well as a make-up artist who joins the team in the first week of November, Burleys has also teamed up with Phil Evans Photography from Weyhill Fairground making Burleys the One Stop Bridal Boutique on your doorstep.
There is currently a competition to win a Fabulous Wedding Dress from Burleys Boutique, a Romantic Photo Shoot and Guest Book from Phil Evans Photography and a Luxury Spa Day from Winchester Hotel, the closing date for entry is 10th November 2013, so get down to The Boutique to get your entry form asap!
Iris Andersen was at the opening with the Princess, Alex, 11 and attendants, Kaci, 9, and Emily, 11, who were all perfectly turned out in their beautiful dresses and tiaras as well as the Prince, David, 9, who was looking dapper in his smart waistcoat and sash. Alex told me she loves being the Princess and her favourite part so far during her reign was the Carnival itself, which left her feeling like a real Princess, her attendants Kaci and Emily like attending shops to open them up and I was told they sometimes get sweets but one of their favourite times was attending a dinner in St Thomas’s Church in Charlton. They both agreed that it is great fun and they particularly like getting dressed up and having hair and make-up done (although Kaci was rocking the natural look today!) Then we come to little David, who is the adorable monkey of the group, I am not sure it means quite as much to him as it does the girls, but he definitely is having fun and is a lovely young chap. Iris has been looking after the Royal Party for some seven years now, having had 6 children herself, I am sure she finds it a walk in the park!
The opening was well attended and even the Andover Advertiser sent a photographer, there was orange juice and bubbly on hand for visitors and once the ribbon had been cut by the Princess, everyone flowed into the beautifully filled boutique containing both Bride and Bridesmaid Dresses, Larna told me that they intend to expand in the near future giving more area and room for lots more bridal shopping, however what is in this boutique now is just perfect. If I were to be getting married, I would love this sense of personal attention you will get by visiting Burleys Bridal Boutique.
