David Coole, Councillor for Andover Alliance, is seeking answers from local housing association Aster Group.

The Test Valley Borough Councillor for Romans wards and a member of the Town Council contacted local housing association formally requesting meetings to discuss local residents issues.

He believes that low income or homeless residents are being ‘discriminated against’

During his meeting with Aster, Cllr Coole raised concerns that Aster Group requirements were ‘unfair’ on low income or homeless residents, Aster requires four weeks rent upfront (Deposit)

He also added to the meeting, per arrangement in the ‘Andover Alliance’ manifesto regular grass-cutting arrangements on Aster-owned sites.

The responsibility, is shared by Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC), Aster Group and Hampshire County Council, therefore different areas of the grass is cut at different time and at different cycles.

He has pledged to use his position within the council to “take on this task,” as well as agreeing to advocate the building of ‘social rent’ new builds on all new development sites.

Cllr Coole hopes to meet with further housing associations in the coming weeks.
