Local Police and the Bomb Disposal Unit have descended on Tintagel Close, in Andover this afternoon (Monday 5th September 2016).

The area has been cordoned off.

Cars and a dustbin lorry have been trapped within the area. Residents have been told to stay in their homes.

An eye witness told Andover & Villages, “One person from the Bomb Disposal Squad is looking through a bag that they took out of the bushes.”

Another eye witness said, “They found bomb-making equipment in a house or garage at the bottom of Tintagel Close and they took a briefcase away.”

The cordon was lifted at around 2.30pm and the Bomb Disposal Squad left the scene.

Hampshire Police said, “A Tintagel Close resident contacted police at 8.41am this morning after finding a suspicious object whilst clearing out their garage.

“The Bomb Disposal Unit inspected the area, but found nothing of interest.”
