Hampshire Police and Hampshire Fire and Rescue have found the body of a man in the River Anton. Three fire appliances and several police cars were in attendance, with a dinghy being used to search the river by the Chantry Centre Multi Storey Car Park.
Reports suggest that the man was the subject of a search that started around 10pm on Saturday night (9th March 2014).
The man is thought to have fallen in to the river during a night out in Andover.
Hampshire Police issued the following statement;
We can confirm police were called today (Sunday, March 9, 2014) to the discovery of a man’s body in the River Anton near the Waterloo Court area of Andover, Hampshire.
The body has been recovered from the river and formally identified.
Police won’t be in a position to name the deceased man until all next-of-kin have been informed.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
