Local News | Birds Shot in Children's Park | Andover & VillagesPolice are appealing for witnesses after a number of birds were apparently shot with a pellet gun in Amesbury.

The birds, believed to be wood pigeons and doves, were found on public land behind Nicholson Close.

PCSO Pippa Brewer, from Wiltshire South Community Policing Team, said: “This isn’t the first time an incident like this has occurred in this area, but this most recent instance is believed to have happened on 8 April.

“It was particularly distressing for the children who found the birds when they were playing in the park.

“We are hoping someone may have seen or heard something which may help our investigation, and are appealing for anyone with information to contact police.”

Anyone with information should call PCSO Brewer on 101, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, where details can be left anonymously.
