If you want to earn while you learn and are keen to find out more about apprenticeship programmes at a thriving Hampshire insurance business then you need to head to Andover next week.
Be Wiser insurance, based in Andover town centre, is hosting two coffee afternoons to give people the chance to find out more about the company and their recognised apprenticeship programmes.
“We hope that anyone interested will drop in to see us, have a slice of cake and a cup of coffee and have a chat about what we do at Be Wiser and how we can help them kick start their career,” said Amy Redsell, Senior Recruitment manager at Be Wiser. “Our apprenticeships aren’t just aimed at school and college leavers, they are offered to all new employees who join the company. This could be within the sales, customers support, renewals or audit departments.”
The events are being held during National Apprenticeship Week (9th-13th March) and the aim is to celebrate apprenticeships and the positive impact that they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.
Be Wiser Insurance started in 2007 with just three employees and now has more than 600 staff across five offices in Andover. The company offers the Apprenticeship in Providing Financial Services at both Intermediate and Advanced levels and provides the opportunity to complete a number of professional insurance qualifications whilst working towards the NVQ in Providing Financial Services.
“Our programmes allow young professionals to gain business knowledge and experience within the Financial Services sector while earning a competitive salary,” said Amy Redsell. “These programmes support students in gaining essential business skills and obtaining professional qualifications, providing them with an opportunity to fast track and develop into significant roles within the industry.”
19 year old Sophie Walters is one of the employees who has done just that. Sophie originally applied for a general vacancy after completing two years of studying for her A’Levels. One of the Be Wiser recruitment team advised her she would be an ideal candidate for the Sure Start programme.
“I really enjoy being on the Sure Start programme”, said Sophie. “I have been able to take full advantage of all the opportunities that have come my way. Over the next few years I would like to progress to being a team leader and then a brand manager.”
Being able to continue his education after leaving school is what has impressed 17 year old Liam Passmore about the Fresh Start programme. It is specifically tailored for school leavers.
“Being on the Fresh Start programmes means I can continue my education and I am also gaining invaluable work experience with a fast growing local business and earning a competitive salary at the same time.”
James Pawley was working as a sales agent when the Sure Start programme was first launched. An email about the programme caught his eye as he saw it as a great opportunity to gain further qualifications whilst still working at the company.
“I really enjoy the variety of the work. I’ve spent time in the sales, customer services, training, insure relations and audit departments within the company. It’s given me a great overview of the business and a good insight into the world of insurance,” said James.
If you, or anyone else you know, wants to find out more about the exciting job opportunities at Be Wiser then come along to the coffee afternoons. They are taking place at The Owls Nest, 21 Winchester Street, Andover SP10 2EA on Tuesday March 10th and Thursday March 12th from 4pm to 6pm.
