Anti-social Behaviour Patrols Stepped Up in Cricketers Way in Andover

Police and warden patrols have been stepped up outside the Tesco Express in Cricketers Way following an alleged serious assault that took place on the security guard there earlier this month.

Local councillor, Phil North said: “Following the serious incident that took place at the Cricketers Way Tesco recently I have been liaising with the police and anti-social behaviour officers in Test Valley.  The area has now become a targeted patrol area for wardens and police with patrols stepped up in the area. Alongside this Tesco are reviewing their own security, reporting and banning processes.”

Phil North added: “Even before this incident some local residents told me that they fear visiting the shop after a certain time because of the potential for intimidation with youths hanging around outside. Thankfully reports of anti-social behaviour had been falling in this area until very recently and have been reduced since the incident due to the increased measures and extra patrols. I hope that this will continue to be the case.”

The police are continuing their investigations into the alleged assault.
