Andover Young Carers are delighted to have recently welcomed Kit Malthouse, Parliamentary Member for North West Hampshire as their new Patron. The successful majority win for Kit saw him easily secure the seat with the support of 32,052 voters, representing 58.1% of those voting.

Kit is a former Deputy Mayor for Policing in London from 2008-2012 and then for Business and Enterprise until March 2015. Kit is a member of the London Assembly, sitting for the constituency of West Central until early 2016. He is a chartered accountant and founded a Midlands based finance company twenty years ago, which he now chairs. Kit is married with three children.

Kit said “It’s an enormous pleasure to become Patron of Andover Young Carers, an organisation that helps some really special young people. Kids and teenagers who shoulder caring responsibilities during their childhood and education are often overlooked or taken for granted, so it’s great to support an organisation that thinks about their welfare and cares for them”.

Helen Mehaffey, Chair of Andover Young Carers said ‘We are thrilled that Kit has agreed to become a patron alongside Mrs. Jane Benson. Kit is already proving to be very involved in all aspects of our Charity and we are looking forward to working with him in the future.’
