The Tea Cosy in Hurstbourne Tarrant turned into a Wonderland today (Saturday 2nd August 2014), by hosting a Mad Hatters Tea Party in aid of Marie Curie.

The owner, Jenni Danks, looked glorious dressed as Alice with her husband, Clayton, was dressed as the March Hare from the famous Tea Party.

The Tea Party was a great end to the Tea Cosy’s Activity Week, which has seen children from the area enjoying a whole range of crafting events that had been arranged and put on by Lucy and Vicky, from Lulu’s Flowers, who stock their beautiful fresh flowers in the Tea Cosy each week.

The children’s activities were held in one of the neighbouring units, whilst the adults and regular visitors, camped down for tea, coffee and cake, of which there was lots, thanks to Debbie of Born2Bake, who provides all of the fresh cakes to The Tea Cosy. Baked especially for the event, Debbie had been a very busy bee, with gorgeous teacup cupcakes, served with a solid chocolate spoon and topped with cream and a strawberry. Also on offer was a slice of a giant, chocolate and vanilla layered sponge with chocolate ganache, butter cream icing, chocolate spoons, smarties, sprinkles, chocolate stars – a complete treat for anyone that managed to get a slice. A percentage of the sales for both the teacup cupcakes and larger cake will be given to Marie Curie.

The event was very well attended with children and adults milling around dressed up, with faces painted and tummies full of cake and delicious drinks.
