There is a fantastic community in Augusta Park for those living on the new estate, all brought together by the Augusta Park Community Association.
The organisation is run by a board of trustees that are all residents of Augusta Park, with the aim of turning a housing estate in to a community and, judging by this week’s activities, they are well on their way!
The community are actively fundraising for a Community Centre, and this week saw the Summer Party & BBQ contribute to those efforts, whilst also bringing together the Augusta Park neighbours.
After a wet week, the BBQ and Fun Day was blessed with a sunny day, which was great for the BBQ and Bar and also the huge range of sports and games laid on.
Andover Beat, the local community interest radio station, was in attendance, broadcasting live from the field with able Matthew North at the helm.
Speaking to Paige, aged 9, she said, “I am having a really nice day today. I have been in an egg and spoon race, been on the bouncy castle and had my face painted. I am really looking forward to the community centre being built so we can have lots more things to do.”
