We decided to go along to Andover Wedding Fayre at the Lights Andover, as we were promised a well attended and exciting event with added fashion show and we were not disappointed. The main cafeteria area of the Lights was packed full of stalls and visitors. I think if you were planning on getting married in the near future, you could have actually booked everything you need in that room on that day!
We started off with the fashion show and watched as beautiful ladies and children walked the stage wearing their beautiful dresses. My favourite was a medieval type floaty dress but there was literally something for everyone.
When we came out of the auditorium, I was really excited to see a friend of mine, Kerry Morely, who was manning the stand for Breath Takers OB Trust, which supports sufferers of Obliterative Bronchiolitis, a rare and irreversible lung disease, resulting from an injury to the lower respiratory tract. Kerry was giving out information and also raffling off a rather fabulous bear.
In attendance was Thames Valley Meats, who had a Hog Roast going out the front along with Fajitas, we had to have a try, in the interest of journalism (!!), and it was delicious they really do the best Hog Roasts around and we gobbled it all up. The Fajitas were a great addition to the service as well. We had a lovely long chat with Mike Hall, who is brother of Larna Burley, owner of Buley Bridal. Mike was promoting Karat 24, a drink that has real gold leaf inside. It is a complete show stopper and looks fantastic. We tasted a little sample and it was yummy, making it a great Christmas present for anyone who likes something a little special, also at the stand with the wedding dresses, was Charlotte Burley, who runs the bridal shop with her Mum. The stand was very busy all day and brides received a little goody-bag when stopping for a chat.
Michael King was in and around the crowds, performing his magic tricks illustrating his great worth at a wedding reception or any other function. We stopped and chatted to Charlotte from Beautific who provide Wedding and party supplies. We were shown the party favours and how they were beautifully and safely packaged up along with beautiful crystals to adorn any kind of table setting. Louise Ellison from the Dress Boutique was there with her fabulous dresses and jewellery. I want to live with her, as everything is so sparkly and pretty and not only that, Louise is so lovely and friendly and able to advise perfectly on what dresses suit your body shape.
Sue Risdale, from Andover Nails, was there with her friend, showing Brides what she can do for their nails and make-up on their special day. A fantastic presentation was being projected onto a screen behind their stand, which was full of great images of what Sue can do. I saw some amazing Halloween nails on Facebook by Sue the other day; she really is very clever.
There were lots of venues in attendance including Esseborne Manor and the Wessex Conference Centre. All the stands were so busy throughout the day it was difficult to get in for a chat. one of my favourite stands was Honey and Harmony, which hire out vintage tea sets and accessories for weddings and events, the stand was so prettily full of crockery and accessories, I felt like I was a young girl with my bone china tea sets again.
This really is a good event for not only brides but for anyone with a party to arrange. There are so many knowledgeable people there to make your day perfect!
