Andover and the surrounding villages were taken by surprise yesterday, after a band of heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds of up to 70mph, briefly swept through our region.

There were numerous reports of fallen trees across Andover, and trains using the Basingstoke to Salisbury line were delayed due to a tree on the line. The weather added to the misery of local people already affected by heavy rainfall in areas where there are currently flood alerts in place.

This evening will see further outbreaks of heavy rain with strong winds, which will give way to sleet and light snow. Forecasters say the snow is unlikely to cause any significant impact to the local area.

Flood warnings are going to be re-assessed on Wednesday and we will update residents with further news as it becomes available.
