Today, police have executed a warrant to evict travellers off the Picket Twenty field as almost 40 caravans and vehicles pitched up at the Andover field.
The group of travellers first gained entry to the field after sawing off fences close to the Sports Pavillion on the field.
Many have expressed their concerns as children try to play on the field.
The council were notified alongside the police who were present with the travellers when leaving the field.
Eye-witnesses have seen the group of over 35 vehicles pitch up at the Augusta Park field, while police attempt to stop the caravans and work vehicles.
One Augusta Park resident whose house overlooks the field, who wishes to be anonymous said, “Police have successfully managed to ward off at least 4 caravans so far, but 5 are already parked up. I’m sat by my window watching and hoping that they’re not my view for the next week”
As they left, residents from Picket Twenty witnessed trash and the fencing from the under-construction ‘Urban Park’ completely destroyed.
Test Valley Borough Council and Hampshire Constabulary have been contacted for comment.
