Local businesswoman, Dorthe Thomas, has opened another amazing business this week in the 91 High Street, Andover Pop Up Shop. Smoothers & Shakers is a fantastic new resource for Andover, providing freshly squeezed juices, delicious smoothies and other drinks, along with the opportunity to use fantastic power plates as part of a healthy fitness regime.
Andover & Villages was invited along to the opening, where Mayor Jan Lovell was in attendance and initially sat chatting with AaV favourite, Cllr Nigel Long, while they both enjoyed a freshly made juice. The Mayor was enjoying a ‘Popeye’, which is made from carrot, celery, ginger, lemon, spinach and mint. Jan told us that it was very delicious and had been told it was an ‘alkaline’ juice. Research has suggested that alkaline juice can help restore a healthy PH balance in bodies, thus combating many illnesses, diseases and health issues.
The Mayor was also brave enough to have a go on the fantastic power plates that Dorthe has imported, for the population of Andover to use. A great advocate of power plate exercise and passionate about healthy living, Dorthe told us, “These really are great machines. 10 minutes on one of these, for a proper workout, can be the equivalent of an hour training in the gym. The benefits of vibration training are: losing weight, burning fat, decreasing of blood pressure, toning and tightening of skin, an increase of natural collagen levels and an increase in flexibility. There really is no reason not to have a go.”
The pop up shop has been transformed by Dorthe in a short space of time, with it being turned into a tranquil and trendy place to enjoy a healthy drink and a chat with friends. The power plates are in a room at the back of the building, affording a good level of privacy for your workout.
Smoothers & Shakers is initially in place for 5 weeks with an option to stay permanently if it is used, so make sure you get down, enjoy a drink and get some vibro action going!
