Andover News - Foodie Heaven at Farmers’ Market

Andover Farmers’ and Crafts Market will fill the High Street with more than 50 stalls on Sunday, 17 August from 10am to 2pm.

It will be a food lover’s heaven with something for every palate, with stalls including fresh meat, cheeses, wines, cakes, vegetables, chillies, eggs, local jams and honeys and much more!  Fill a basket with treats for a weekend picnic, or something special for the Sunday roast.

Alternatively try the taste of authentic Bengal street food from Chit Chaat Chai as you browse the array of goodies on offer and relax to the background vocals of local duo Dragonfly Rhythms playing music in the Time Ring.

Councillor Ian Carr, leader of the council, said: “Managed by the council, the Andover Farmers’ and Crafts Market has gone from strength to strength over the past year, with the number of stalls growing each time the event is held.  This could not happen without the amazing support that it receives from local residents and visitors.  If you haven’t yet experienced the buzz and excitement of the High Street on Farmers’ Market day I would urge you to drop in and sample some of the delicious wares on offer.  Every purchase made helps to support local businesses and producers and keeps things local.”

The  market will play host to return visits from old favourites including Parsonage Farm, Anna Valley Chillies, Grape Expectations and KS Blooms, whilst also welcoming new stall holder Kitenge – specialising in ethical clothing and jewellery.  Three charity pitches highlighting the work of Action for Children, The Boaz Project and the Macular Society will also be in attendance.

The Andover Farmers’ and Crafts market is part of a wider programme of High Street events developed as part of the recommendations following the Andover Summit.  The aim is to encourage more visitors to the town and support the local economy.
