Andover Musical Theatre Company are starring in the professional touring production of Evita at The Mayflower in Southampton this week!
Members of the local amateur theatre company were invited to get involved by a casting agent looking for supernumaries to fill the crowd scenes, and Ollie Burgess, Andrea Griffiths, Denise Hall and Jonathon Cole were only too pleased to volunteer.
Telling the story of Eva Perona, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Peron, Evita follows Eva’s journey from humble beginnings through to extraordinary wealth, power and iconic status which ultimately lead her to be heralded as the ‘spiritual leader of the nation’ by the Argentine people.
The award winning AMTC have been entertaining theatre goers in Andover for over 50 years, originally known as the operatics society, they rebranded in 2011 with a new modern image reflective of the contemporary musicals they stage. In recent years they have performed hit shows such as The Witches of Eastwick, Oliver, Annie, The Addams Family and Sister Act! They are currently in rehearsals for cult favourite Little Shop of Horrors, on stage at The Lights in May 2017.
